AHA Issues Special Bulletins

This week the American Hospital Association (AHA) shared information on upcoming CMS calls. CMS will be hosting calls this week for hospitals, health systems and providers on COVID-19. On Thursday, April 30 Call from 5-6 p.m. ET CMS will answer questions on temporary actions the agency has taken to increase hospital capacity; expand the health care workforce; and further promote telehealth.

On May 1, CMS will host a call with the Food and Drug Administration for physicians and clinical leaders on COVID-19. The call is an opportunity to hear physicians and other clinical leaders share their experiences, best practices and strategies, and insights related to COVID-19. Details on the call follow.

Also this week, AHA released a Special Bulletin with information on registration beginning for Claims Reimbursement to Health Care Providers and Facilities for COVID-19 testing and treatment of the uninsured. In another Special Bulletin AHA released, CMS recently announced that it is reevaluating its Accelerated Payment Program and suspending its Advance Payment Program

In a letter sent to the Department of Health and Human Services this week, the AHA told the Department that it is concerned with the distribution of the Public Health and Social Services Emergency Fund, which has left many hospitals and health systems on the front lines with limited resources to serve their communities.
