South Dakota Medicaid Allows APPs to Enroll in Medicaid Primary Care Provider Program

​Effective November 1, 2020, South Dakota Medicaid will allow Advance Practice Professionals (APPs) to enroll with their own caseload in the Medicaid Primary Care Provider Program. APPs must have PA, CNP, or CNM licensure with specialization as non-surgical PA, CNP in family practice, pediatrics, obstetrics, gynecology, adult health, women’s health, or CNM denoted within the practitioner’s Medicaid enrollment record. The APP must also be working within a South Dakota facility or in a facility within 50 miles of the border or South Dakota to participate in the program.

To be added to the list of Primary Care Providers, APPs must be enrolled as a Primary Care Provider. Instructions for enrolling as a primary care providers can be found here.
