Creative Aging South Dakota FY27 grants now open

Since 2017, the South Dakota Arts Council has explored arts in health initiatives and continues to expand opportunities for adults age 55+ to learn, create, and connect through the arts. Creative Aging SD supports partnerships between teaching artists and community organizations to provide engaging 6–10 week art learning experiences that promote creativity, lifelong learning, and social connection.
Health care organizations, assisted living communities, senior centers, libraries, tribal communities, and other rural organizations are encouraged to apply. Grants help organizations partner with local teaching artists to strengthen activity programming and bring meaningful art experiences to older adults. Organizations do not need to have a teaching artist identified before applying, the Council will help connect communities with artists.
More information about the grant opportunity is available here. Complete the application here.
Since November 2025, Ari Albright has served as Creative Aging SD Coordinator, supporting artists and organizations across South Dakota. Contact Ari at creativecarellc@hotmail.com or 605-675-9830 with any questions.
