CMS issues final rule to delay home health conditions of participation effective date

CMS issued a final rule to delay the effective date for the new home health conditions of participation. The original effective date was July 13, 2017. Under pressure from providers and other interested parties, including SDAHO, CMS is delaying the effective date for an additional six months until Jan. 13, 2018.

Additionally, CMS is providing a phase-in implementation time frame for §484.65(d) “Standard: Performance improvement projects,” allowing agencies an additional six months to implement this requirement, with an effective date of July 13, 2018. This will provide agencies more time to collect data necessary to identify areas of performance improvement.
