Event Details

Overview:

In August 2021, Center for the Prevention of Child Maltreatment (CPCM) became one of 20 state-level grantees from HRSA for its new Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems: Health Integration Prenatal-to-Three (ECCS) Program. Several key statewide partners, including the Departments of Health, Social Services, and Education supported the proposal are participating in the SD ECCS Collaborative.

HRSA’s Early Childhood Comprehensive Systems grant program aims to build integrated maternal and early childhood systems of care that are equitable, sustainable, comprehensive and inclusive of the health system as a key partner. ECCS focuses on the Prenatal-to-age 3 period because it’s a crucial window of opportunity for prevention and intervention.

In short ECCS provides South Dakota with an opportunity to strengthen our capacity to collectively ensure a strong start for all our children. Attendees may expect to learn more about the SD-ECCS Collaborative, initial findings and strategic planning undertaken during the first year of this five-year opportunity.

Attendees may also expect to reflect on how the work of ECCS Collaboratives can help states and communities prevent Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES), as well as how collective impact and collaboration in cross-sector public health collaboratives may be evaluated.
