Governance for the People Who Support the Board

You have been asked to report to the board!  Does that statement spur your anxiety?  It does for many.

The CEO is the constant in working with the board. But they are not the only people for whom board engagement is critical. From the administrative support professional, to the organizational leaders, everyone is well served to understand the role of the board and how to best support the board in doing their important fiduciary and governance work.

Join Michael Wyland and Margaret Sumption as they lead this three-part series on building the relationship between your board and staff within the healthcare organization. This three-part series is for all those people who contribute to the board’s understanding and work. Quality, human resources, physical plant, IT, and others can benefit from advanced understanding of how, and why, the board does its work. CEOs can benefit from this refresher as well to help their people best interact with the board.

The first session will take place on April 19 at 11am CST and will set the stage with the specific responsibilities of the Board and how the roles and responsibilities of the board and staff are shaped. The session will provide specific examples for those who have occasional work with the board and for those who have more direct ongoing engagement with the board’s work.

Session 2 of the series will occur on May 3 at 11am CST and will dive deeper into how boards work and the best way to support and keep the board apprised of things they are charged to monitor and provide counsel.

May 17 at 11am will be the last session will provide a full list of ways to help the board to contribute to the success of the organization. From story-telling, to building relationships, the board can be a wonderful asset in creating a successful run organization. This series with take that fear out of connection and build relationship that promotes the entire organization to be stronger.
