South Dakota Public Health Lab Training on Packaging and Shipping Infectious Substances

The South Dakota Public Health Lab will be hosting free in-person classes on Division 6.2 Packaging and Shipping Infectious Substances. The South Dakota Public Health Laboratory has contracted with the US Department of Transportation to provide this up to date training. The class will provide participants with an overview of the federal regulations pertinent to packaging and shipping infectious substances which includes but is not limited to: the definition of an infectious substance, exceptions to the regulations, proper packaging and documentation, emergency response, and training.

Classes are free and limited to 20 participants per location. Staff who participate in any part of the packaging and shipping process are invited to attend.

The classes run, 8:00am – 5:00pm, will be hosted in the following locations:

  • Rapid City, Monday, June 13th
  • Pierre, Wednesday, June 15th
  • Sioux Falls, Friday, June 17th
