CMS posts documents from May 2 SNF, LTCH, IRF quality reporting webinar

As promised, CMS has posted the recording, post-training materials and question and answer (Q&A) documents of the May 2 webinar explaining the Review and Correct process for the SNF, LTCH and IRF Quality Reporting Programs. The materials provide helpful information to providers on where to find the necessary reports within the CASPER system in order to make any necessary corrections prior to the quality reporting deadlines.

The U.S. Supreme Court has sided with a nursing home in a Kentucky case tied to powers of attorney and arbitration agreements. The high court ruled 7-1 decision that the Kentucky Supreme Court's clear-statement rule violates the Federal Arbitration Act by singling out arbitration agreements for disfavored treatment.

State seeks input on State Plan of Aging for 2017-2021

In preparation for the next version of the State Plan on Aging, the Department of Human Services' Division of Long Term Services and Supports is seeking comments to the drafted State Plan on Aging for 2017-2021. The public comment period will be open until May 25 and a public hearing will be held on May 23.

CMS delays implementation of HCBS settings final rule

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released a letter announcing a delay in the implementation for the HCBS rule standards, extending the deadline to March 17, 2022. We have been working with LeadingAge to advocate for the delay since the rule was released.

LeadingAge launches campaign to save HUD elderly housing program

LeadingAge on Monday launched a new campaign aimed at saving the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Section 202 Housing for the Elderly program. LeadingAge says a large and rapidly expanding population of low-income older adults faces the challenge of finding affordable, safe housing that can accommodate changing needs as they grow older.
